Harrogate is an elegant, renowned spa town, with beautiful architecture dating mainly from the Victorian and Edwardian era. Harrogate is also a great base for a holiday. Within half an hours drive are the beautiful Yorkshire Dales for walking and spectacular scenery; the mediaeval walled city of York for sightseeing, including the National Railway Museum and Yorvik Viking Centre; and the vibrant city of Leeds for shopping (Harvey Nichols!) and the Royal Armouries.

Overall rating: 4.5 out of 5
Comfortable, warm, quiet accomodation with free parking near the centre of Harrogate at the cheapest price I could find. Not the Ritz, but Derek and Carol are the perfect hosts and make a delicious and large breakfast that fills you up to last all day. I have stayed here twice in two months and have already booked for next year.
